May is National Mental Health Awareness month and iTunes Top 20 Pop artist Justin Michael Williams is disrupting the typical pop formula to help his listeners heal — mixing music and motivation together in a way the industry has never experienced before.
His new music video, “Perfect Man,” will be released with a Trauma + Healing Guide so that listeners can lean into their pain and break free from the hidden forces that stop them from success.
“Perfect Man” isn’t your typical music video — no singing, no dancing. Directed by George Roberson and Produced by Carl Indriago, this cinematic narrative (inspired by Justin’s real life) follows a young Justin through his childhood struggle with domestic violence. As we see him age, it becomes clear that, like many of us, the trauma he survived as a child is affecting his adult relationships.
“If you grew up in the struggle – whatever particular struggle that may be – you can’t keep turning away from your pain,” says Williams, “all the studies show that turning toward our difficult emotions brings wisdom. That’s the only way to heal.”
Justin has over a decade of experience in motivational speaking, music, and meditation — in this project, he is bringing all of his skills to the forefront.
